After years of struggle and effort, China has finally fulfilled its mission to eliminate absolute poverty. China Daily's foreign reporter Matt Bossons traveled across the country to discover the stories behind people's efforts to overcome poverty.

I'm investing how luo si fen became a popular online poverty alleviation product. To learn more, I came to Liuzhou River Snail Rice Noodle E-commerce Industrial Park to learn about the history of luo si fen.

工作人员杨欢向我展示了柳州通过网络销售螺蛳粉的各项数据和成果。她告诉我，这一碗螺蛳粉已成为脱贫致富的好帮手。

Yang Huan, a staff member of the park, showed me the data highlighting the successes of selling luo si fen through the Internet. She told me that this local food product has become an essential tool in the battle to eliminate poverty.

“2015年是螺蛳粉发展的元年。我们通过和淘宝、京东建立了很多重点电商平台。”

"2015 was the first year of river snail rice noodle development. Since then, we have established many key e-commerce platforms through Taobao and JD."

杨欢向我推荐了柳州当地一家螺蛳养殖基地。当地人告诉我，虽然这里的交通不太方便，但养殖螺蛳却保留了天然的优势——群山环保、依山傍水。

Yang recommended that I visit a luo si breeding base. Local people told me that the transportation here is not very convenient, but the environment is perfect for breeding luo si, thanks to the surrounding mountains and mountain springs.

我见到了螺蛳粉养殖基地的负责人，一位叫阿勇的年轻人。阿勇跟我说，他有300多亩养殖地，每亩地可养殖螺蛳1000多斤。这里的螺蛳质量非常好，每斤价格4元左右。

There I met a young man named A Yong, who is in charge of the luo si breeding base. Yong told me that he has more than 300 mu of luo si breeding ponds and that each mu of land can be used to breed more than 500 kilograms of luo si. The quality of the luo si produced here is very high and each half kilogram of luo si costs about four yuan.

“我们这里好多底下河都是泉水，非常适合养田螺。2017年，我开始流转土地，2019年配合政府一起给这个村子做规划。”

"Many of our underground rivers are springs, which are very suitable for breeding river snails. In 2017, I started contracting land. I worked with the government to plan the village in 2019."

“现在是有贫困户和农民与我们公司一起配合区养殖螺蛳。现在养得都不错。那我跟你边走边看，边走边聊。”

"Now, low-income families and farmers work together with our company to breed river snails. The breeding of river snails is going well now. Let me show you around here."

随着螺蛳粉走红网络，它已从不知名的美食成长为年产值约几十亿元的大产业。作为螺蛳供应商，阿勇的生意一年比一年好。

Thanks to the Internet, luo si fen have gone from a relatively unknown delicacy to a multi-billion yuan industry. As a luo si producer, Yong's business is getting better every year.

阿勇说，政府和基地每年免费给当地贫困户提供一些螺蛳，并无偿在基地养殖。养殖螺蛳的收入加上他们在这里工作的工资，帮助他们摆脱了贫困。

Yong said that the government and the breeding base provide poor families with luo si every year and allow them to raise the luo si for free at the base. The incomes these people earn from producing luo si and their salary from the base have helped them to climb out of poverty.

阿勇给我介绍了一位在基地工作的阿姨教我捡螺蛳。在和她聊天的过程中，她告诉我，原来她是建档立卡贫困户，在政府和基地的帮扶下成功脱贫。

Yong introduced me to an aunt who works at the base so that she could teach me how to harvest luo si. She told me that her family was previously impoverished, but that they were able to successfully escape poverty thanks to the help of the government and the breeding base.

“我是2019年脱贫的，也得到了国家的帮助，危房得到了改造，现在也养螺了，生活比以前好过多了。我也会更加努力把这些螺蛳养好，让未来我们的日子更加好过一点。”

"I get rid of poverty in 2019 with the government's help. My dilapidated house has been renovated and now I also breed river snails. Life is much better than before. I will also work hard to produce these river snails so that our life will be better in the future."

在和村民们干活的过程中，他们的敬业精神和乐观精神给我留下了深刻的印象，也给我了希望。我相信他们的未来会更光明。

While working alongside the villagers, I'm impressed by their strong work ethic and cheerful spirits, both of which give me hope that their local community will have a bright future.

随着电子商务的出现，螺蛳粉产业得以发展，惠及当地居民。生活在大山深处的农民能与世界相连，并通过互联网销售他们的产品，开辟了一条新的致富路。

Thanks to the advent of e-commerce platforms, local people have been able to develop the luo si fen industry and benefit from its growth. Farmerswho live deep in the mountains are able to connect with the world and sell their products using the Internet as a path to prosperity.
